The trip was supervised by Dr. Jamilah Atef, with the participation of several Teaching Assistants from the Faculty. It was conducted as part of the applied activities aimed at enhancing the students’ practical skills.
Objectives of the Field Trip:
The primary objectives of the visit were to:
– Observe coffee pests and diseases and their control methods in their natural environment.
– Learn about coffee cultivation techniques and specialized care practices in mountainous high-altitude regions.
Explore local forestry trees, such as Al-‘Umq (Ficus spp.), Sidr (Ziziphus sp.), and Sesbania, and understand their vital role in supporting the ecosystem and bee nutrition.
The visit provided the students with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with local farmers and observe the real-world field challenges facing coffee production. This hands-on experience is expected to significantly deepen their practical understanding and enrich their academic expertise in the field of plant protection
