SANA’A – Students from the Department of Agricultural Economics, specializing in both Agricultural Extension and Cooperative Studies, have officially launched their summer training program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment. The activities focused on aligning academic theory with practical field applications through a series of comprehensive orientation sessions and site visits.
The program is designed to provide students with a clear roadmap of the training’s objectives and expected learning outcomes, preparing them for the technical demands of the agricultural sector.
Phase One: Technical Orientation and Site Assessment
The training commenced on Saturday, April 11, with an introductory session held at the department’s computer laboratory. During this phase, students were briefed on the strategic goals of the summer practicum and the specialized sites scheduled for visitation. The day concluded with an on-site visit to the university farm, where students explored the practical environments they will be operating in throughout the program.
Phase Two: Exploring Apiculture and Hive Dynamics
On Sunday, April 12, the focus shifted to specialized production with a visit to the Apiculture (Bee) Laboratory. This session provided students with an in-depth look at:
– Bee Biology: Identifying various species and their specific roles within the hive’s social structure.
– Production Processes: Understanding the biological and technical methods behind honey and wax formation.
These activities are part of the Department of Agricultural Economics’ ongoing mission to enhance the practical competencies of its students. By integrating field experience into the curriculum, the department ensures that graduates possess the hands-on expertise necessary to address modern agricultural and economic challenges.
