In an effort to strengthen practical skills and align academic theory with field reality, junior students (Level 3) at the Department of Animal Wealth (Animal Resources) have completed their second consecutive week of intensive field activities. Held at the Faculty’s Research Farm, these activities are part of the Summer Field Training program, conducted under specialized academic supervision to bolster students’ professional technical skills.
The training modules encompassed several vital pillars of livestock management and agricultural operations, including:
• Apiculture (Beekeeping): Students gained practical experience in hive management, learning about the pivotal role of bees in ecological balance and agricultural yield.
• Poultry Management: The training featured hands-on applications for receiving day-old chicks, with a rigorous focus on preventative biosafety measures and care protocols essential for healthy growth cycles.
• Agronomy & Field Operations: Activities also included essential agricultural work such as planting and transplanting, aimed at developing the students’ comprehensive field experience.
The sessions concluded with practical demonstrations on specialized technical topics, most notably:
• Assembling and calibrating poultry feed mixers.
• Egg incubation and hatching techniques.
• Standardized procedures for table egg collection.
• Establishing feed mills for sheep and cattle.
• Modern scientific approaches to the design and layout of livestock farms.
This field program was executed under the guidance of elite faculty members, ensuring that students receive the scientific and practical mentorship required to raise their efficiency and readiness for the labor market.
This program reflects the Faculty’s dedication to preparing graduates who are scientifically and practically qualified to contribute effectively to the development of the livestock sector and the enhancement of food security.
