SANA’A – June 20, 2026 — The Department of Sociology Council at Sana’a University’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities held its first regular meeting today, chaired by Department Chair Dr. Hana Al-Mutawakel. Attended by council faculty members, the meeting focused on a range of academic and organizational agenda items in preparation for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year.
At the opening of the session, Dr. Al-Mutawakel welcomed the council members and extended her congratulations on the start of the new academic year. She emphasized the importance of collaborative teamwork and urged the faculty to continue elevating academic and research performance to align with the department’s goals and the faculty’s mission.
During the meeting, the council reviewed the curriculum plan and course distribution for the upcoming Fall semester. Members discussed strategic mechanisms to balance teaching loads, ensure operational efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of student learning outcomes.
Furthermore, the council officially approved a newly updated curriculum for the Bachelor’s program. The revised plan aligns with the standardized framework mandated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, designed to keep pace with modern academic advancements and meet evolving labor market demands.
In an effort to strengthen undergraduate research, the council also reviewed several senior graduation project proposals and established new guidelines to govern the undergraduate thesis process.
The meeting concluded with Dr. Al-Mutawakel reinforcing the necessity of adhering to institutional regulations and intensifying efforts to boost the department’s research output, wishing the faculty a successful and productive academic year ahead.
