Sana’a University President Inaugurates Five Advanced Laboratories and a Female Students’ Lounge at Faculty of Computer and Information Technology

Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, accompanied by his Advisor for Cultural Affairs, Abdulsalam Al-Mutamayez, inaugurated today five state-of-the-art laboratories and a dedicated female students’ lounge at the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology. The inauguration comes as part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance its infrastructure and improve both the academic and service environments.
During the visit, the University Rector and Advisor for Cultural Affairs reviewed the facilities and equipment of the newly established laboratories. They received a detailed briefing from Dr. Ahmed Al-Shalabi, Dean of the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, and Eng. Abdulhakim Shamsan, the University’s General Director of Projects, who explained that the laboratories have been equipped with 125 computers featuring the latest technical specifications, all funded and installed through the university’s own resources.
The visit also included the female students’ lounge, which was created to provide a comfortable and supportive space aimed at improving the quality of services offered to female students and promoting their academic well-being within the faculty.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti and Advisor Al-Mutamayez commended the projects and their timely completion with only self-funding resources, noting that this achievement reflects the university’s clear strategic vision and its determination to rank among the leading universities in the region and serve as a leading national institution of expertise.
They highlighted that since its establishment in 2007, the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology has undergone significant qualitative advancements, including the introduction of contemporary academic programs in artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, and multimedia, in addition to the launch of MA and PhD programs. These developments, they noted, require continuous expansion of infrastructure and specialized laboratories.
The University Rector reaffirmed Sana’a University’s commitment to keeping pace with rapid technological progress and announced plans to establish additional specialized laboratories in the near future, particularly in networking, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence, to further strengthen the educational process and enhance the quality of its outputs.
