PhD Degree Awarded to Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Musaybi in International Development and Gender Studies

Mr. Abdullah Ahmed Mohammed Al-Musaybi was awarded a PhD degree in International Development and Gender Studies for his dissertation titled: Crisis Management Strategy and Its Impact on Enhancing Institutional Performance Efficiency as an Approach to Sustainable Development in Yemen: : An Applied Study on the Yemen Oil Company, which was submitted to the Inclusive Development Research Center – Sana’a University. The dissertation defense was held on Monday, January 05, 2026.
The PhD Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to analyze the impact of implementing an effective crisis management strategy on enhancing institutional performance efficiency, as an entry point to achieving sustainable development in Yemen, with the Yemen Oil Company serving as the applied case study.
The study demonstrated that adopting a systematic crisis management strategy, represented by the Steve Fink crisis management model, contributes significantly to improving institutional performance efficiency.
The model proved effective in absorbing sudden shocks and mitigating their severity through mechanisms of advance preparedness and creating an appropriate organizational environment. The findings also revealed a positive impact of improved institutional performance on strengthening the path toward sustainable development.
In the light of these findings, the researcher recommended:
Adopting scientific and systematic crisis management strategies as a means of achieving operational stability, with consequent positive effects on institutional development, activity enhancement, community security, and economic and political systems.
Adopting this strategy across institutions in vital sectors in Yemen.
