Researcher Muna Ghazi Abdullah Al-Ariqi has been awarded her Master’s degree with distinction in International Development Studies from the Inclusive Development Research Center at Sana’a University. Her thesis, titled “The IMPACT OF CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTED BY INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS ON NGOs PERFORMANCE,” was successfully defended on Monday, February 24, 2025.

The examination committee included esteemed members: Prof. Dr. Mohammed Yahya Al-Rafiq, serving as the external examiner and chair; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Yahya Abdul Qadir, acting as the supervisor and member; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak Mohammed Al-Marani, who served as the internal examiner and member.

The research aimed to investigate the impact of capacity-building programs implemented by international organizations on the performance of civil society organizations in Yemen. The results indicated that employees in these organizations who participated in both on-the-job and off-the-job training significantly enhanced their performance, contributing to the overall effectiveness of their organizations.

In her thesis, Muna presented several key recommendations, highlighting the importance of utilizing both types of training to improve the capabilities of NGO staff, which can lead to enhanced organizational performance. She stressed the necessity of conducting thorough needs assessments to inform the design of more effective capacity-building programs by funding entities. Additionally, she advocated for NGOs to cultivate a learning environment where employees can share insights gained from training with their colleagues, ensuring robust organizational learning that remains resilient to staff turnover.

The thesis defense attracted a diverse audience, including academics, researchers, students, and other interested individuals, as well as colleagues and family members of the researcher.
