Faculty of Medicine Conducts Oral Entrance Exams for Clinical MD Programs
SANA’A, YEMEN – The Faculty of Medicine successfully conducted the oral component of the competitive entrance examinations for its Clinical Doctorate (MD) programs. Held in the Faculty Library, the exams included 58 candidates competing for postgraduate seats across several specialized medical fields.
The examinations covered the departments of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Dermatology, and Cardiology. Each applicant underwent a rigorous evaluation designed to identify the most qualified candidates for the program.
The oral assessment serves as a critical phase in the university’s comprehensive evaluation process. Scientific committees focused on measuring candidates’ analytical abilities, critical thinking, and diagnostic proficiency. These sessions are specifically designed to gauge clinical readiness and the ability to make sound medical decisions under pressure.
Supervised by a distinguished group of faculty members and consultants, the sessions utilized a precise scientific methodology. This included the discussion of hypothetical clinical cases and in-depth questioning to evaluate how well applicants bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical, real-world application.
Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, attended the proceedings to oversee the examination process and evaluate performance standards. He praised the high level of organization and discipline, noting that the rigor of the process ensures the selection of top-tier talent.
“Oral examinations are a cornerstone of our admission process for the Clinical MD programs,” Dean Al-Shehari stated. “They allow us to assess clinical competencies and interpersonal skills that a written test simply cannot capture. We are committed to selecting individuals who demonstrate the potential for excellence in highly specialized medical disciplines.”
The Dean further highlighted that the Clinical Doctorate (MD) program is the first of its kind in Yemen. It represents Sana’a University’s strategic move toward developing postgraduate programs that meet advanced international academic standards. This initiative aims to prepare a new generation of medical professionals capable of providing high-quality healthcare and keeping pace with global medical advancements.
