Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Council Holds Second Regular Meeting to Drive Academic Development and Research

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Council at Sana’a University held its second regular meeting for the Academic Year 2026–2027. The meeting focused on reviewing academic and research plans, institutional performance, and educational quality.
The session was honored by the attendance of Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, demonstrating the university administration’s direct support for the Faculty’s academic trajectory.
Addressing the council members alongside the Assistant Rector for Medical Faculties and Hospitals, Dr. Abdulhafed Thawabeh, Rector Al-Bukhaiti urged the faculty and staff to redouble their efforts. He emphasized that the upcoming phase demands proactive institutional alignment to meet future academic standards, upgrade educational programs, and elevate the university’s regional and international research footprint.
“We must strive for a qualitative leap in academic and institutional performance,” stated Prof. Al-Bukhaiti. “Aligning our educational outcomes with international benchmarks is critical to boosting the global competitiveness of our medical graduates in the healthcare market.”
Following the Rector’s address, the Faculty Council, chaired by Dean Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari and attended by vice deans and department heads, proceeded with the scheduled agenda:
• Faculty and Staff Affairs: The council approved several faculty promotions, tenure-track adjustments, and teaching assistant appointments, following the recommendations of academic departments and specialized committees.
• Student Progression and Grading: Grading lists and results for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels were officially reviewed and approved after satisfying academic protocols.
• Research & Graduate Studies: The council endorsed several research proposals and study plans submitted by Master’s, Ph.D., and Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) candidates. Additionally, final thesis defense results were ratified for several graduate students, confirming compliance with academic integrity and quality benchmarks.
The meeting concluded with the approval of the previous session’s minutes and a collective commitment to fostering collaborative teamwork across all academic and administrative divisions.
