Faculty of Medicine Hosts Academic Meeting to Evaluate Quality Assurance, Student Support, and Alumni Units

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University held an academic meeting today, chaired by Faculty Dean Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehari, to evaluate the performance and strategic initiatives of several vital administrative units.
The meeting was attended by:
• Assoc. Prof. Adel Al-Ghaili (Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies)
• Prof. Ahmed Mujahed (Vice Dean for Quality Assurance)
• Prof. Arwa Othman (Vice Dean for Student Affairs)
• Prof. Saleh Al-Dhahri (Chair of the Anatomy Department)
• Mr. Marwan Al-Mekhlafi (Faculty Secretary-General)
The session brought together administrators and staff from the Academic Student Support Unit, the Alumni Unit, and the Quality Assurance Unit to review annual performance reports and discuss collaborative mechanisms to improve student outcomes.
Dean Al-Shehari emphasized that academic excellence requires a continuous, holistic feedback loop.
“The close integration of quality assurance, student support, and alumni relations forms a seamless academic ecosystem that guides our medical students from their first day on campus through their transition into the healthcare workforce,” said Dr. Al-Shehari. “This synergy is vital to sustaining educational development and modernizing our medical programs in line with global best practices.”
During the meeting, National Quality Expert Prof. Saleh Bahaj presented strategies to optimize these units under international educational quality management standards. Dr. Bahaj detailed how linking performance indicators in the student support unit can directly reduce academic probation rates. He also outlined systematic methods to leverage alumni feedback to continuously update the medical curriculum.
The session concluded with practical recommendations to resolve outstanding administrative challenges and a commitment to implementing these measures in the coming semester.
