Safia MahdiYemeni journalist Qualifications and Courses:– Bachelor’s degree from the Department of Journalism, Faculty of Mass Communication, Sana’a University (2010-2014). – She is currently working on preparing a master’s degree in the Department of Journalism at Sana’a University. – Diploma in Data Journalism, with ARIJ with ARIJ Investigative Journalism Network 2020. – Diploma in Data Journalism, with Deutsche Welle Academy, in 2021. – Received many training courses in the field of humanitarian and investigative journalism and digital verification. – Training course in budgets and reading, with ARIJ Network for Investigative Journalism, September 2020. – Training course in fact-checking, with ARIJ Investigative Journalism Network, July 2020. Training course in peace journalism, with UNESCO, October 2020. – Training course in advanced fact-checking, with ARIJ Investigative Journalism Network, December 2020. – Training course on human rights journalism, international law and humanitarian law, with UNESCO, December 2020. – A number of other training courses and workshops, which focus on the humanitarian field, data journalism, fact-checking, digital security and other areas of media. Business and Professional Experience:Over the past five years, dozens of reports have been published in many Yemeni, Arab and international websites concerned with Yemeni affairs. – Co-founded the Yemeni Fact-Checking Network.

prizes – Among other contestants, she won the United Nations Sustainable Energy Competition of the Year Award, organized by the United Nations Office for Least Developed Countries, for a report published in DW , May 2018. – She also won the Population and Development Award from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), for a report she published on the impact of malnutrition on pregnant Yemeni women, December 2019. – Won third place for the IOM Competition for Journalists in Yemen on stories dealing with migrant issues in August 2021. – She also won the Code Her competition award, organized by the Deutsche Welle Academy of Women Journalists participating in the Data Journalism Training November 2021.
