“Are You Here?” Film Earns Full Marks at Sana’a University Faculty of Mass Communication Graduation Project Defense
SANA’A, YEMEN – In a distinguished academic atmosphere, the Faculty of Media at Sana’a University hosted the defense of the graduation project titled “Are You Here?” presented by the “Sard Vision” team, consisting of students Mohammed Ismail Al-Gharsi and Ghassan Yahya Al-Arashi. The project achieved an outstanding perfect score of 100% (Distinction).
The film is a sophisticated artistic and intellectual exploration of human existence in the age of rapid digital transformation. Through a compelling dramatic treatment, the project highlights the impact of the virtual world on individual consciousness and social relationships. The work relied on a cohesive narrative structure that seamlessly blended philosophical depth with modern visual techniques, showcasing an advanced level of performance and cinematography.
The team’s roles were meticulously divided: student Mohammed Ismail Al-Gharsi developed the concept and screenplay, while student Ghassan Yahya Al-Arashi directed the film. Al-Arashi translated the script into a powerful visual vision, utilizing cinematography, lighting, and color grading to enhance the dramatic significance of the narrative.
The film poignantly reflected the duality between the isolation often found in the digital realm and the values of authenticity rooted in the social environment, emphasizing the vital balance between modernity and cultural heritage.
The project was evaluated by a defense committee chaired by Assoc. Prof. Hussein Jaghman, with the membership of Prof. Khaled Omar and Prof. Mohammed Abdulwahab Al-Faqih. The committee lauded the film’s artistic and intellectual caliber, affirming that it reflects promising creative talent and meets professional media production standards.
The project was executed under the academic supervision of the Faculty’s deanship and the Radio and Television Department, represented by Assoc. Prof. Omar Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and Assoc. Prof. Hussein Jaghman, Head of the Department, with scientific supervision by Prof. Abdulbaset Al-Hattami.
This achievement underscores the remarkable development of students at the Faculty of Media, Sana’a University, and their ability to produce media content that bridges academic rigor and professional excellence, further strengthening the university’s presence in the creative and media sectors.
