*Faculty of Mass Communication Celebrates 35 Years of Academic Excellence*
Marking 35 years of academic service, the Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana’a University looks back on its history, which began in 1991 as a Department of Mass Communication within the Faculty of Arts. Dr. Rauofa Hassan played a key role in founding the original department, which later expanded into an independent, specialized faculty during the 1996/1997 academic year.
The establishment of the Department of Mass Communication in 1991 represented a significant milestone in media education at Sana’a University. Dr. Rauofa Hassan served as its founding chair, followed by Dr. Mohammed Abduljabbar Salam from 1992 to 1996.
In the 1996/1997 academic year, the program transitioned into the Faculty of Mass Communication, initially featuring three academic departments: Journalism and Publishing, Radio and Television, and Public Relations and Advertising.
Over the decades, the faculty has continually updated its academic curricula and practical training facilities to prepare media professionals in journalism, broadcasting, and public relations, adapting to changing communication technologies.
This 35th anniversary highlights the institution’s history of educational service, academic contributions, and ongoing commitment to advancing media education.
