Sana’a University and the Ministry of Electricity, Energy, and Water Discuss Cooperation in Scientific Research

A meeting was held today at Sana’a University between the Deputy Minister of Electricity, Energy, and Water, Eng. Adel Bader, and the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti. The meeting discussed areas of cooperation between the two sides in scientific and academic research to support sustainable development and serve the community.
The meeting, attended by the Undersecretary for the Electricity Sector, Eng. Ahmed Al-Mutawakkil, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Water Sector, Eng. Abdulsalam Al-Hakimi, the University Rector’s Assistant for Media Affairs, Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, the Director of the Center for Studies and Development, Dr. Badr Al-Serraji, and the representative of the General Federation of Yemen Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Eng. Shaif Jarallah discussed coordination mechanisms to prepare for the Fourth Conference and Exhibition on Renewable Energy, scheduled to be held in February 2026.
The meeting also explored ways to activate the cooperation agreement signed between the Ministry and the University, represented by the Water and Environment Center and the Renewable Energy Center, to enhance collaboration in scientific research, training, technical consultancy, and the exchange of expertise in the fields of electricity, water, and renewable energy.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of partnership with Sana’a University, describing it as the country’s leading academic and research institution. He highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to benefiting from the University’s expertise and research outputs to develop the electricity and water sectors.
Then, Prof. Al-Bukhaiti reaffirmed the University’s commitment to expanding cooperation with government institutions, especially in applied and technical areas that help improve public services and promote national development. He praised the Ministry’s efforts to improve energy efficiency through technical and administrative reforms. He also affirmed the University’s full readiness to provide academic, advisory, and technical support that serves the public interest.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti also stressed the importance of preparing well for the upcoming conference and exhibition, in collaboration with both the public and private sectors, to raise awareness of clean energy and encourage innovation in this vital field.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to form a joint working team from the Ministry and the University to prepare for the event, define its objectives and themes, and follow up on the implementation of the cooperation agreement.
The meeting was also attended by Eng. Abdulkarim Al-Akhram, Director of the Water and Environmental Sanitation Emergency Unit; Eng. Ahmed Al-Dawlah, Director of the Investment Unit; Dr. Ahmed Al-Arshi, Professor of Electrical Power Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering; Mr. Osama Al-Bukhaiti, Director of the Rector’s Office; and several officials from both sides.
