Sana’a University Rector Discusses Digital Infrastructure Development at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with Ministry of Telecommunications Technical Team

Sana’a University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, chaired an expanded meeting at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with a technical team from the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology to discuss mechanisms for upgrading the faculty’s digital infrastructure and technical systems. The meeting formed part of the university’s ongoing efforts to modernize its technological infrastructure and accelerate digital transformation.
The meeting was attended by the Rector’s Assistant for Medical Faculties and Hospitals, Dr. Abdulhafidh Thawabah; the University Secretary-General, Mr. Iskandar Al-Maqaleh; national expert Prof. Saleh Bahaj; the Secretary of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Mr. Marwan Al-Mekhlafi; and a number of specialists and technical staff. Eng. Mohammed Abu Monsar, Mr. Akram Awadh, and Eng. Nabil Jamal represented the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology.
Participants reviewed the current status of the faculty’s technological infrastructure and discussed key development priorities, including upgrading telecommunication and network systems, updating data centers, enhancing security and surveillance systems, and expanding the use of digital platforms that support academic and administrative operations. These initiatives are aligned with the university’s institutional development strategy and its commitment to improving operational efficiency.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti emphasized that cooperation with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology is a key factor in advancing the university’s digital transformation projects. He commended the ministry’s technical support and collaboration, noting that they contribute significantly to strengthening the university’s technological infrastructure, improving the quality of academic and administrative services, and creating a modern learning environment that keeps pace with recent technological advancements.
He further noted that Sana’a University continues to implement its comprehensive plan for upgrading the digital infrastructure of its faculties and centers through the adoption of advanced technologies, the utilization of national expertise, and the establishment of institutional partnerships that support sustainable development.
The representatives of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology reaffirmed the ministry’s readiness to provide technical and advisory support and to contribute to the implementation of technology development projects aimed at enhancing the university’s digital infrastructure.
Following the meeting, the University Rector and the technical team conducted an inspection tour of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences laboratories and the Pathology Museum to assess the current state of the technological infrastructure and identify development needs. During the visit, they received briefings from specialists on requirements for upgrading communication networks, digital systems, and cybersecurity measures in preparation for the development of technical studies and implementation plans.
At the conclusion of the visit, both sides agreed to continue coordination to complete the necessary technical studies and establish implementation mechanisms for priority projects, supporting the modernization of the digital infrastructure at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in accordance with the latest technological standards.
