Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Celebrates Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday, Honors Top Students, and Welcomes Freshers

The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sana’a University, in cooperation with the University Student Forum (USF), organized a cultural and commemorative event today to mark the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday (Mawlid). The event coincided with the welcoming of newly admitted students and the honoring of outstanding academic achievers, as part of the university-wide activities aimed at promoting prophetic values and fostering a culture of academic excellence and institutional belonging.
The event was attended by the Minister of Health and Environment, Prof. Ali Shaiban; the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti; the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari; a number of faculty members and academic and administrative staff; and a large gathering of male and female students.
In his remarks, Minister of Health and Environment Prof. Ali Shaiban emphasized that commemorating the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday reflects a deep connection with the Messenger of humanity and provides an opportunity to draw inspiration from the values and principles he brought for building individuals and serving society. He highlighted the importance of embedding these values within educational and healthcare institutions.
In turn, the University Rector, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, stated that commemorating this blessed occasion reflects the university’s commitment to integrating its academic mission with its educational and cultural role. He emphasized that welcoming new students and honoring outstanding achievers demonstrates the university’s commitment to nurturing academic talent, encouraging creativity and excellence, and motivating students to serve their country.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shahari, noted that the event reflects the faculty’s commitment to promoting prophetic values, strengthening engagement with students, and creating a supportive and motivating university environment for new students. He also highlighted the importance of recognizing high-achieving students in appreciation of their academic excellence and as an encouragement to continue their pursuit of success.
The program featured speeches, cultural presentations, and religious chants celebrating the status of the Prophet Muhammad. It also included a welcoming session for newly admitted students and an introduction to the university environment and academic life. The event concluded with the honoring of the faculty’s top-performing students in recognition of their dedication and achievements and to encourage them to continue their path toward academic excellence.
The event forms part of a broader series of activities organized by Sana’a University’s faculties to commemorate the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday.
