Sana’a University Launches “Student Meal Restaurant” to Support Students on the Occasion of the Prophet Mohammed’s Birth

Sana’a University launched today the “Student Meal Program” to provide meals for students, particularly those residing in university accommodation, as part of the University’s activities marking the anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed’s birth (al-Mawlid al-Nabawi al-Sharif). The launch was attended by Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Hatem Al-Dois, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research; Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, Sana’a University Rector; Dr. Hamoud Ou’bad, Mayor of the Capital Secretariat; and several officials and academics.
The project is part of the University’s efforts to enhance student services and provide an educational environment that enables students to focus on their studies. It provides healthy, safe, and organized meals at symbolic and subsidized prices, helping ease students’ living expenses, particularly those residing in university accommodation.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Hasan Al-Saadi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, commended the initiative and praised the program’s level of preparation and readiness, particularly the equipped kitchens and the attention given to food quality, cleanliness, and safe preparation. He stressed the importance of integrating official and community efforts to support the program, develop its services, and expand the number of beneficiaries.
For his part, Prof. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti, University Rector, said that the program forms part of the University’s efforts to establish a well-prepared and integrated educational environment. He explained that access to meals has been one of the challenges facing students, particularly those living in university accommodation, noting that providing students with a properly prepared and healthy meal enables them to devote themselves to their studies, increase their efforts, and achieve greater creativity and excellence.
He pointed out that the University has established two restaurants under the program, one at the Free Service Accommodation and another at the Wooden Accommodation, in accordance with high specifications and standards. Meal preparation is supervised by a specialized team from the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences to ensure that healthy, balanced, and safe meals are provided.
Al-Bukhaiti emphasized that the “Student Meal Program” is more than a restaurant serving food; it is a service-oriented and humanitarian project designed to support students and invest in their capabilities. He called on relevant organizations and institutions to contribute to its support and development, stressing that supporting students represents a genuine investment in the minds and capacities of young people. He also expressed his appreciation to the University Student Forum for its efforts and contributions to the success of the project.
Meanwhile, Dr. Hamoud Ou’bad, Mayor of the Capital Secretariate, praised this initiative, noting that its launch on the occasion of the anniversary of the Prophet Mohammed’s birth reflects the Prophet’s values of solidarity, compassion, care for people, and service to society. He also commended Sana’a University’s initiatives in serving its students.
Prof. Hatem Al-Dois, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, also praised the project, commending the University’s leadership for implementing the initiative, preparing the restaurants, and providing students with meals at symbolic prices. He affirmed that serving students and meeting their basic needs constitutes an important part of the responsibility of educational institutions.
The “Student Meal Program” represents a practical approach to integrating student services into the educational process by providing healthy, safe, and organized meals that help ease students’ daily burdens and enable them to achieve greater stability and devote themselves to their studies. It also embodies the values of solidarity and social responsibility and reflects Sana’a University’s commitment to building an integrated educational environment in which students’ needs are addressed comprehensively.
