Summary:

Dr. Al-Zaemey holds a PhD from Cranfield University – Britain in 1991, and has more than 25 years of professional experience in the field of education and research in the field of food science and technology for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and carrying out research work and consultancy studies in the field of food, agriculture and fish, which included food processing and preservation, new product development, microbiology of food and dairy products, issues related to production quality, food safety, treatment and handling of agricultural and fishery products, preservation and storage technics. He was awarded the President of the Republic’s Research Award for the year 2009.

In recent years, my core activities have focused on studies and consultancy in the food industry, private, NGOs and international organizations (including the ESCWA, UNIDO, FAO, WFP, ESCWA, UNICEF, ILO, WTO, etc.) which has included the development of engineering skills in sectors related to the preparation and processing of food and agricultural products, estimating the nutritional needs of the food basket, studying and evaluating the nutritional status and evaluating the Impact assessment of over 35 projects implemented by international organizations operating in Yemen..etc.

Experience:

Has 25 years of experience in teaching, research studies and consulting in the fields of preserving and processing agricultural and fish products, and in the field of manufacturing engineering and production lines for agricultural, industrial and fisheries projects. Experience in the field of food and dairy quality and safety, agricultural, animal and fish products quality conditions and standards. Practical experience in the field of preparing technical feasibility studies for agricultural, industrial and fisheries projects and in the field of their evaluation as well.

Moreover, he has documented experience in the field of studies and consultations in the industrial and agricultural sector that have been implemented for many United Nations organizations, international and local organizations (including the ESCWA, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization, the World Food Programme, the International Labor Organization, UNICEF and many others) as described below:

Member of the national export strategy team funded by the European Common Market as an expert consultant responsible for preparing the sub-sectors (Agriculture Export Strategy and Fishery Export Strategy) for inclusion in the NES, undertake assessment of selected Fisheries and Agricultural supply chains.   10. As an expert in fish quality, conducted two months training Program on Fish Microbiology for the Fish Quality Control Laboratory at Hodeidah Governorate.
  11. Head of the study team assessing the economic and social impacts of Yemen’s accession to the World Trade Organization – the engineering and contracting sector in 2009.
  12. As an international consultant for the final evaluation of the projects implemented by the project to support agricultural activities in five governorates within the Republic, the American support project 2008.
