The Department of Horticulture and Its Technologies at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment, Sana’a University, held its second seminar as part of its ongoing academic discussions to review research findings. During this session, the researcher, presented and discussed the results of her master’s research, outlined the materials and methods used in her study and highlighted the key findings of her thesis, titled:
” Phenotypic characterization (Ampelographie) of some local Yemeni grape cultivars Vitis vinifera L”
She began with an introduction to grape cultivation, emphasizing its historical significance and deep-rooted connection to Yemeni civilization throughout history. She then elaborated on the research methodology and concluded with a comprehensive discussion of the main findings, categorized into three key themes:
Water and Soil Analysis – This section presented the results of water and soil analysis in the study area, alongside relevant climatic data.
Morphological Characterization – This part detailed the physical characteristics of the two grape varieties under investigation.
Phenological Phases – This section examined the different growth stages of the grapevines throughout the study period.
The session featured a dynamic scientific discussion, during which faculty members and attendees engaged with the researcher, offering constructive feedback and recommendations to further enhance the study’s academic value.
This second seminar serves as a critical requirement for obtaining departmental approval of the research findings before proceeding to the final public defense of the thesis. A formal evaluation committee will be formed later to oversee the final defense process.
