Master’s Degree Awarded to Mr. Al-Hassan Mohammed Sharaf Al-Deen in Agricultural Economics

Mr. Al-Hassan Mohammed Sharaf Al-Deen was awarded a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics and Cooperation with distinction for his thesis titled: The Role of the Value Chain in Improving the Performance of the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank (CAC Bank), which was submitted to the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment – Sana’a University. The MA defense was held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The thesis aimed to:
Identify the role of the value chain in improving the performance of the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank (CAC Bank).
Analyze the main and supporting activities and their impact on enhancing the bank’s operational efficiency.
Examine the extent to which the implementation of the value chain contributes to strengthening competitiveness and improving the quality of banking services.
The study yielded several key findings summarized as follows:
There was a statistically significant positive impact of the value chain on improving the bank’s performance.
Supporting activities and the integration of internal operations contributed to enhancing institutional performance efficiency.
A positive relationship existed between the development of banking activities and the improvement of service quality provided to customers.
Implementing the value chain contributed to cost rationalization and strengthening the bank’s competitive advantage.
In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:
Adopting the value chain concept within the bank’s strategic and operational plans.
Enhancing information systems and activity analysis to improve institutional performance efficiency.
Focusing on the development and qualification of human resources to support the quality of banking services and ensure sustainable performance.
The defense session was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, colleagues, and the researcher’s family.
