Doctorate Awarded to Researcher Ala’a Abdullah Mohammed from the Faculty of Physical Education

Researcher Ala’a Abdullah Mohammed Alrawdhi has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physical Education, from the Faculty of Physical Education at Sana’a University for her dissertation titled: “(The Impact of Zumba Exercises Accompanied by a Proposed Dietary Regimen on Improving Body Measurements and Health-Related Physical Fitness Among Overweight Women)”.
The Viva voce took place on Thursday, 10th of Dhu alqa’adah, 1446 AH, corresponding to May 8, 2025 AD.
The Viva Committee consisted of
* Professor Abdulghani Mujahid Saleh Mutahar as Supervisor, Chairman, and Committee Member.
* Professor Mohammed Ali Ibrahim Alkhawlani as Internal Examiner and Committee Member.
* Associate Professor Ahmed Atiya Obaid Faqir as External Examiner and Committee Member.
The study aimed to identify the impact of Zumba exercises accompanied by a proposed dietary regimen on improving body measurements and health-related physical fitness among overweight women.
The study concluded with several findings, including that the application of Zumba exercises accompanied by the proposed dietary regimen has a positive effect on improving these variables.
The researcher recommended that it was necessary for women’s fitness centers to adopt Zumba exercises combined with dietary regimens in their training programs and to encourage women to regularly practice them for at least (45) minutes per day, for most days of the week, if not all.
The Viva was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, interested individuals, as well as the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
