The meeting was chaired by Professor Prof. Huda Ali Al-Emad, Dean of the Development and Quality Assurance Center (ADQAC), and attended by vice deans for quality affairs from various faculties, along with representatives of scientific and research centers.
At the outset, Prof. Al-Emad underscored the importance of coordinated efforts across faculties and centers to foster a culture of quality and ensure continuous improvement in both academic and administrative processes. She emphasized that the current phase requires a comprehensive review of study plans and operational mechanisms in line with institutional development goals.
Discussions also addressed technical feedback submitted by faculties regarding the unified curricula proposed by the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research. The Council approved forwarding all amendments and recommendations to the university leadership in preparation for their submission to the relevant ministerial committee for review and endorsement. Sunday was set as the final deadline for faculties to submit their proposals.
The Council further reviewed a proposal concerning financial entitlements for committees responsible for preparing and reviewing academic program documentation and diploma improvement programs. It recommended submitting the proposal to the university administration for approval, in recognition of the efforts invested in developing academic program documentation.
On quarterly reporting, the Dean stressed the need for reports to include clear performance indicators reflecting progress in academic programs, infrastructure, and quality-related activities, supported by appropriate documentation and evidence.
Moreover, the Council approved a proposal to include vice deans for quality affairs in scientific integrity committees, aiming to enhance oversight of thesis topics and ensure their relevance, originality, and alignment with academic standards.
As part of efforts to streamline academic operations, the Council discussed mechanisms for distributing supervision duties, thesis defenses, course assignments, and graduation research projects in a manner that ensures fairness among faculty members while maintaining alignment with areas of specialization. Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Nono was tasked, in collaboration with a team of specialists, with preparing a comprehensive draft proposal for presentation at the next meeting and subsequent submission for approval.
In conclusion, Prof. Al-Emad instructed vice deans for quality affairs to review and validate academic schedules, plans, activities, and workshops, ensuring their compliance with quality assurance standards and the ongoing enhancement of teaching and research at Sana’a University.
