Faculty of Communication to Host Ph.D. Dissertation Defense on Product Stereotyping and Yemeni Women’s Consumer Behavior

Faculty of Mass Communication at Sana’a University will host a public doctoral dissertation defense on Monday, June 15, 2026, presented by Ph.D. candidate Meethaq Saleh Al-Saadi. The dissertation is titled, “Stereotyping of Local and Foreign Products and Its Impact on the Consumer Behavior of Yemeni Women: A Survey Study.”
The study investigates the critical role that brand image and prevailing perceptions of domestic versus imported goods play in shaping the consumer behavior of Yemeni women. Utilizing a comprehensive survey methodology, the study examines the key factors influencing purchasing decisions, market preferences, and consumer trends, shedding light on the socio-economic and communicative dimensions of consumer choice.
The dissertation defense committee consists of Prof. Hassan Abdullah Dajrah from Hodeidah University, as a chair and external examiner; Prof. Abdulrahim Ali Al-Shawri from Sana’a University as internal examiner and committee member; and Assoc. Prof. Omar Abreen (Associate Professor of Public Relations and Advertising) as academic supervisor and committee member.
The defense session is scheduled to take place in the Faculty of Mass Communication auditorium at 10:00 a.m. The event will be attended by university faculty members, graduate researchers, and professionals interested in media studies and scientific research.
