Sana’a University Climbs 459 Places Globally, Maintains Top Ranking Among Yemeni Universities in the 2026 AD Scientific Index

Sana’a University has achieved a significant milestone in global academic rankings, rising 459 positions in the 2026 AD Scientific Index, a respected international ranking for scientific research and publication. The university advanced from rank 4056 in the previous edition to rank 3597 worldwide in the 2026 index.
With this progress, Sana’a University has reaffirmed its position as the leading university in Yemen for the fourth consecutive year, maintaining a considerable lead over its peers. Modern University for Science and Technology ranked second nationally at position 5211, followed by Dhamar University in third place at rank 5693.
In a statement to the university’s official website, Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, Rector of Sana’a University, emphasized the institution’s strong commitment to supporting scientific research and its research scholars. He noted that the university’s academic staff and researchers are the cornerstone of its international reputation and that empowering them to pursue high-quality research is key to continued success in global rankings.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti further highlighted that the university’s advancement reflects ongoing improvements in its academic and research environment, educational programs, and study courses, as well as enhancements to the overall research ecosystem. He also pointed to the successful implementation of digital transformation projects in administrative and educational services, as well as the publication of high-impact research in renowned international journals.
The University Rector expressed pride in the entire university community, acknowledging the contributions of faculty members, administrative staff, and researchers. He described this achievement as the result of collective effort and sustained dedication, which have elevated the university’s standing both locally and internationally.
The AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) is one of the leading global systems for evaluating the scientific performance of academic institutions. It is based on a comprehensive analysis of individual researchers’ productivity using data from Google Scholar, including the H-index, i10-index, and total citations.
The 2026 edition includes data from 24,516 institutions and 2,625,868 researchers across 221 countries, covering 13 major scientific disciplines and 221 subfields. This breadth lends the index significant credibility in assessing research performance on a global scale.
