Master’s Degree Awarded to Mr. Abdullah Hussein Mejaar in Islamic Studies

Mr. Abdullah Hussein Hussein Mejaar was awarded a Master’s degree in Quranic Exegesis (Tafseer) with an average of (Excellent) and a grade of (92%) for his thesis titled ” Al-Jawhar Al-Shaffaf Al-Multaqat Min Maghasat Al-Kashshaf,” authored by Al-lama Abdullah bin Al-Hadi bin Al-Imam Yahya bin Hamza (d. 793 Hijri) – From the beginning of Surah Al-Zukhruf to the end of Surah Al-Hadid: A Study and Investigation,” which was submitted to Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities – Sana’a University. The defense was held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, corresponding to Rabi’ al-Akhir 15, 1447 Hijri.
The MA Viva-voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following members:
- Saeed Ali Al-Himyari, Principal Supervisor and Member.
- Ahmed Mohammed Abdo Mutahar, Internal Examiner.
- Hassan Nasser Ahmed Sarar, External Examiner.
The thesis aimed to:
- Study and highlight the role of the scholar Abdullah bin Al-Hadi bin Al-Imam Yahya bin Hamza among the scholars of Yemen.
- Analyze the manuscript with scientific precision to benefit researchers, readers, specialists, and students of knowledge.
- Focus on the new merits of this manuscript revealed through the research, which is considered a valuable addition to the field of Quranic exegesis (Tafseer) and Islamic libraries.
The thesis concluded with several important findings, including:
- Al-Zamakhshari was a venerable scholar who amazed the nation’s scholars with his rhetorical, eloquent, exegetical, and linguistic skills.
- The book ‘Al-Kashshaf‘ is one of the most widely circulated books in the Islamic world across various schools of thought and sects.
- The scholar Abdullah bin Al-Hadi made a significant contribution to the Islamic scientific library through a rich exegetical work that includes comparative jurisprudence (Fiqh), serving as an indispensable reference for scholars and intellectuals.
The thesis concluded with a number of recommendations, most notably:
- Encouraging researchers, students, and manuscript editors to benefit from Yemen’s treasures of valuable manuscripts.
- A call for Sana’a University and other academic centers to print, publish, and distribute such scientific encyclopedias.
- Urging researchers to communicate with relevant official bodies to facilitate procedures for those wishing to undertake manuscript verification projects.
- A recommendation for all researchers, scholars, and academics to abandon blind fanaticism towards any ideology, school of thought, or sect.
The thesis was examined and recommended by the MA Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested individuals, in addition to the candidate’s colleagues and family members.
