As part of its commitment to experiential learning and professional development, Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment organized a two-day scientific field visit for its students to the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund on May 4–5, 2026. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical application within the agricultural and fisheries sectors.
Day One: Understanding Sector Support and Economic Feasibility The first day focused on the Fund’s vital role in bolstering national production. Students received in-depth briefings from Eng. Adnan Omar and Eng. Fouad Yafooz regarding the Fund’s strategic objectives, funding sources, and specialized mechanisms for supporting diverse projects. The session also addressed the developmental challenges facing the sector. A highlight of the day was a specialized presentation on Economic Feasibility Studies delivered by Eng. Amr Al-Fadhil. The session emphasized the critical steps required to ensure project success, sparking high engagement among students interested in agricultural investment and entrepreneurship.
Day Two: Technical Skills and Professional Development The program continued on the second day with a focus on data literacy and soft skills. Key training areas included: – Data vs. Information: Understanding the nuances of data analysis in preparing scientific and economic studies. – Project Development: Practical training on transforming investment ideas into viable projects. – Professional Communication: Workshops on public speaking and presentation skills to build confidence in professional settings. – Resource Management: Specialized insights into the economic and nutritional importance of fisheries and marine life.
These sessions, led by Eng. Adnan Omar and Eng. Fouad Yafooz, were characterized by interactive discussions and hands-on participation. At the conclusion of the visit, the students expressed their appreciation for the experience, noting that such field opportunities are essential for honing the practical skills required by the modern labor market.
