Thamar University Students Conduct an Applied Scientific Visit to the Livestock Department at the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment

Within the framework of strengthening cooperation and scientific exchange between academic institutions, fourth-level students – Livestock specialization at Thamar University conducted an applied scientific visit to the Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at Sana’a University, aiming to view the practical and applied aspects in the field of animal production and benefit from the capabilities, laboratories, and specialized educational facilities at the faculty.

The visit included the laboratories of the Livestock Department, where students learned about animal skeletons, as well as types of fish and the principles of aquaculture and the most important aspects associated with it.

The visit also included the faculty farm, where students viewed the sheep and goat barns and the most important specifications and requirements that should be met in barns to ensure animal safety and improve breeding and production efficiency.

In the cattle farm, students learned about the most important differences between beef cattle and dairy cattle, as well as viewing a number of existing breeds and their productive characteristics.

The visit also included poultry houses, where students learned about different breeding systems, including floor breeding and cage breeding, and what distinguishes each system in terms of management, care, and production methods.

The visit concluded with a tour of the concentrated feed factory, to learn about the stages of feed preparation and manufacturing and its importance in animal nutrition and raising production efficiency.

This visit comes in the context of supporting the practical side of students and linking academic knowledge with field applications, contributing to developing their skills and enhancing their expertise in various fields of livestock and animal production.
