Faculty of Agriculture Conducts Field Trip to Al-Ahdhan Farm for Second-Year Female Students

The Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Environment at Sana’a University organized an educational field trip to Al-Ahdhan Farm for second-year female students, under the supervision of Eng. Amani and Eng. Rana. The excursion forms part of the faculty’s ongoing commitment to strengthening practical training and bridging theoretical coursework with field operations in specialized agricultural and production facilities.
During the visit, students explored the farm’s livestock production system, touring the milking parlor, livestock barns, feed preparation and nutrition units, and the veterinary clinic. They received hands-on explanations regarding herd health management, vaccination schedules, disease prevention, and biosecurity protocols designed to enhance modern livestock and veterinary management practices.
The itinerary included a guided tour of the dairy processing facility, where students examined the step-by-step conversion of raw milk into processed dairy products. The module covered pasteurization, sterilization, fat separation, cream processing, homogenization, refrigeration, packaging, and quality control laboratory testing to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
Students also observed automated milking systems, observing strict sanitation protocols implemented from extraction through chilling, as well as low-stress animal handling techniques that maintain production quality and animal welfare.
In the crop production sector, the visit highlighted aeroponics as an advanced soil-less farming technique. Students learned about nutrient-rich misting systems, water-use efficiency, and space optimization in modern controlled-environment agriculture.
This field trip provided students with valuable practical experience across livestock management, dairy processing, veterinary care, and innovative agricultural technologies, advancing the faculty’s mission to train skilled agricultural professionals equipped with both theoretical knowledge and field experience.
