Today, the Supervisory Committee of the College of Physical Education at Sana’a University convened in the Student Affairs Building to review and prepare for the upcoming final examinations of the first semester of the current academic year. The examinations are scheduled, God willing, to commence next week and will continue for three weeks at the designated examination center of Sana’a University.

During the meeting, the committee reviewed and recorded the semester’s coursework grades in the automated system, ensuring that all grade sheets and examination questions had been received. The committee also discussed the mechanisms for supervising the examinations and related procedures.

The meeting was attended by the Committee Chair, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Khawlani, Vice-Dean for Student Affairs and Head of the Examination Control Board; Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sharafi, Information Systems and Automation Officer; Mr. Hamid Al-Dhawi, College Registrar; and Mr. Hizam Al-Qurqari, member of the Examination Control Board.

Mr. Ali Muqbil Ali Musa was awarded a PhD degree in Physical Education Sciences for his dissertation titled “The Impact of Using Proposed Exercises to Rehabilitate Lower Limb Muscles in Patients with Post-Surgical Fractures,”” which was submitted to Department of Physical Education at Faculty of Physical Education – Sana’a University. The dissertation aimed to identify the impact of the proposed exercises on muscle strength, range of motion, and the muscular circumference of the thigh and leg in post-surgical fracture patients.

The dissertation concluded that there were statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-measurements of these variables, with results favoring the post-measurements.

In his dissertation, Dr. Musa recommended using the researched exercises in a structured manner, early in the recovery process, and under the guidance of the treating surgeon. This approach is crucial for preventing complications that may arise if rehabilitative exercises are neglected.

The PhD dissertation was examined and recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The PhD defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, interested students, the candidate’s colleagues, and family members

The thesis aimed to assess the psychological effects of halted sports competitions on coaches of team sports across Yemen.

Using a standardized psychological effects scale, the research yielded several notable findings as follows:

  • The overall score of the Psychological Effects Scale, from the perspective of team-sport coaches, was rated at an “agree” level, with a mean of 761, a standard deviation of 0.428, and a relative significance of 58.71%.

  • No statistically significant differences were found in the average responses regarding the psychological effects attributable to the variables of educational qualification or years of experience.

  • Statistically significant differences were, however, observed with respect to the variable of type of sport

In light of these findings, the researcher recommended the following:

  • Developing specialized training programs through the Ministry of Youth and Sports, sports federations, and clubs to encourage coaches to continue their professional engagement.

  • Renovating, equipping, and rehabilitating sports facilities, including stadiums and gyms, to encourage coaches and athletes to practice sports.

Sana’a – On Tuesday, 24 Rabiʿ al-Awwal 1447 AH, corresponding to September 16, 2025 CE, the Faculty of Physical Education at Sana’a University, in cooperation with the University Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, organized a scientific workshop titled “Review, Update, and Approval of the Doctoral Program Document in Physical Education.” This event forms part of the faculty’s ongoing efforts to enhance its academic programs and align them with standards of quality and academic accreditation.

The workshop gathered a distinguished group of specialists in Physical Education, representatives from the Center for Academic Development, faculty members and their assistants, as well as officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. During the sessions, Prof. Dr. Najeeb Saleh Ja’eem, Vice Dean for Quality Assurance, presented and discussed key components of the doctoral program document—including learning outcomes, curriculum structure, admission criteria, and evaluation mechanisms—ensuring alignment with institutional development and academic modernization requirements.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, Prof. Dr. Abdulghani Mujahid Mutahar, emphasized the importance of this workshop in strengthening the academic quality of the faculty’s graduate programs. He noted that updating the doctoral program is a strategic step to enhance the efficiency of research and scientific output and to meet the needs of society and the labor market in the field of Physical Education.

Representatives of the University Center for Academic Development and Quality Assurance, Prof. Dr. Ali Mohammed Shamlān and Dr. Muneer Saleh Al-Ezani, commended the faculty’s dedication to developing its programs in accordance with national academic standards, affirming the center’s full support for initiatives that improve the quality of higher education across the university.

The workshop concluded with several key recommendations, most notably the adoption of the updated program structure, the formation of a follow-up committee to oversee implementation, and the reaffirmation of the need for periodic evaluation and continuous program updates.

This workshop is part of a series of developmental activities undertaken by the Faculty of Physical Education as part of its strategic plan for continuous improvement and for ensuring the quality of academic and research performance.
