 Program Mission  

The MA program in linguistics seeks to prepare well-trained post-graduates equipped with the necessary academic knowledge and research skills in linguistics, by offering them a stimulating and satisfying learning environment based on recent approaches, which would enable them to compete in postgraduate academic researches and professions locally and regionally.

 Program Aims:                                                                                       

The MA program in linguistics aims to:                                                                

1.       Offer opportunities for students to engage with various linguistic courses which enable them to develop their linguistic knowledge and academic research skills in linguistics;

2.       Introduce students to the key concepts of the academic discipline of linguistics, and its studies and research;

3.       Raise students’ awareness and understanding of the nature, fields and subfields of linguistics and of its interdisciplinary fields;

4.       Develop students’ skills in academic writing and enhance their academic research competence in key transferable skills of conducting successful research; 

5.       Develop both students’ understanding of linguistics and a critical awareness of its fields and subfields through the study of the various effective theories and approaches concerned with the study of language;

6.       Provide students with appropriate research skills, allowing them to undertake small scale studies in linguistics following good ethical practice; and

7.        Equip students with academic knowledge, theoretical concepts and transferable skills for lifelong learning.
