Program Mission

The Translation program seeks to prepare well-trained graduates equipped with the necessary knowledge and professional skills in Translation, by offering a stimulating and satisfying learning experience invigorated by the use of recent technology, in order to provide them with opportunities to compete for employment in both the private and public sectors.

The vision

In teaching translation, the program seeks to prepare a conscious graduate with a distinctive linguistic ability that qualifies him to be open to the cultures of other nations.

Program Aims:

The program aims to:

  • Offer the opportunity for students to engage with various Translation & Inter-Cultural courses which enable them to develop their academic and professional skills and interests within the fields of Translation.
  • Provide students with an awareness and understanding of the nature, uses and varieties of the Arabic and English Language and the wider contexts of contrastive and comparative linguistic studies.
  • Develop students’ skills in close reading, literary analysis and their ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both English and Arabic orally and in writing form.
  • Develop students’ understanding of both English and Arabic culture and history
  • Offer students the skills, theoretical concepts and empirical knowledge needed to engage with, evaluate and analyze their translated material in everyday and institutional contexts.
  • Enable students to have a high degree of mastery of both languages (English & Arabic) in all aspects of linguistics and culture.
  • Enable students to develop competence in key transferable meaning of the two languages ( E&A)
