Program Aims

  1. Offering opportunities for students to engage with various English courses which enable them to develop their academic and professional skills and interests within the fields of English language studies.
  2. Enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of the nature, uses and varieties of the English Language, along with its broader contexts in linguistic study.
  3. Developing students’ skills in close reading, literary analysis, and effective oral and written communication in English.
  4. Promoting both a comprehensive understanding of English language and a critical appreciation of its cultural and historical significance through the study of English language, literature and culture
  5. Equipping students with skills, theoretical concepts and empirical knowledge necessary to engage with, evaluate and analyze the use of language in everyday and institutional contexts
  6. Enabling students to develop competence in key transferable skills, including information gathering, understanding, analyzing and evaluating theories and their practical applications

 

 

Program Mission

To prepare well-trained graduates equipped with the comprehensive knowledge and professional skills in English by offering a stimulating and satisfying learning experience invigorated by the use of recent technology, in order to provide them with opportunities to compete for employment in both the private and public sectors.

Graduate Attributes:

A graduate holding a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language Studies from the Faculty of Languages should demonstrate the following attributes:

  1. Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  2. Able to differentiate between fundamental concepts in language and literature studies.
  3. Able to use all four English language skills across diverse professional contexts.
  4. Capable of analyzing and critiquing texts in a systematic and professional manner.
  5. Able to communicate skillfully in both written and verbal forms.
  6. Proficient in producing innovative and scholarly research papers, adhering to the principles of academic honesty and research integrity.
  7. Capable to apply and employ specialized knowledge in professional practice within relevant fields.
  8. Proficient in using computers and technological applications to remain abreast of modern scientific and technical developments in language-related fields and applications.
  9. Able to engage positively with diverse cultures while upholding religious, cultural, and social values.
  10. Ready to assume ethical, academic, and professional responsibilities within their area of specialization.
