Public MA Viva-Voce Examination of Ms. Afaf Mohammed Saleh Al-Blily
The Public Viva-Voce Examination for the MA Thesis hereto entitled, An Analytical Study of the Impact of political Ideology on translating News Related to the war against Yemen, submitted by Ms Afaf Mohammed Saleh Al-Blily Department of English, Faculty of Languages was held on Thursday,9/3/1446 Hijri, corresponding to 12/9/2024. The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed to investigate the impact of ideology on translators and news agencies’ translators when translating political text. It aims to explore to what extant the ideology shape the final outcome of translation particularly the sensitive text and news related to the war against Yemen.
The study concluded with a number of findings, including: Ideology is a crucial aspect in life and it appears even more during translation process. Translating news and sensitive texts is affected by the translator ideology or the ideology of the agencies they work for. There is a contradictory relationship between ideology and the intensity of political dispute. The ideology appears during translation in normal circumstance and it appears more during the time of wars and conflicts.
The researcher made several recommendations, including Translators must work with free minds and try their best not to be biased or affected by any kind of ideology. An establishment of a huge and free of ideology center to work as a shelter for the translator who want to work in an environment away of any type of imposed ideology.
The MA thesis has been examined and is recommended by the Viva-Voce Committee for acceptance and approval. The Candidate was recommended to be awarded the degree of Master majoring in English Studies with an overall grade of Excellent
The viva was attended by academics, researchers, students, and other interested individuals, including the researcher’s colleagues and family members.
