Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Sheikh Abdelrahman Sheikh Ibn Sheikh Abu Bakr, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities

Mr. Sheikh Abdelrahman Sheikh Ibn Sheikh Abu Bakr has successfully obtained his PhD Degree from the Department of Islamic Studies, majoring in Comparative Jurisprudence, from the Faculty of Arts & Humanities -Sana’a University. His dissertation, titled “The Sunni Talents, Explanation of the Hadrami Introduction) by the Scholar Baeshen d. (1270 AH), from the Beginning of the Book to the End of Menstruation: A Study and Investigation,” was defended on Thursday, 4th of Safar 1446 Hijri, corresponding to October 10, 2024.

The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Professor Ali Ahmed Yahya Al-Qaidi, External Examiner, Amran University, Chair
2. Professor Moti’a Mohammed Abdu Shabalah, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Professor Kawthar Hamoud Mohammed Al-Mikhlafi, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Member.

The primary objective of the dissertation was to enrich the Islamic scholarly corpus with this significant work, which addresses pertinent scientific issues and aims to assist scholars and practitioners in comprehending its complexities. Additionally, it seeks to illuminate the esteemed intellectual contributions of scholars from Hadhramaut and Yemen.

The research yielded several findings, including a renewed recognition of Muslim scholars’ dedication to jurisprudence, elucidation, commentary, and critical investigation. This dissertation serves as a continuation of previous scholarly endeavors in this field.
In his concluding remarks, the researcher ponints out several recommendations, emphasizing the importance of preserving and investigating Yemeni scholarly contributions and heritage that remain underexplored in both public and private libraries. This initiative aims to promote widespread accessibility and comprehensive understanding.

The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
