Sana’a University and Ministry of Youth and Sports Sign MoU Sunday October 13th, 2024
Today, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Capital Secretariat (Sana’a), between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Sana’a University regarding the completion of the indoor gymnasium project and the turfing of the University’s football field. It was agreed to form a joint working team of specialized engineers from both the University and the Ministry to prepare the technical studies and estimated costs for the required works and to prepare the project document for a public tender according to the procedures stipulated by law. The funding contributions from both parties will be determined based on the estimated costs resulting from the technical studies and according to the available capabilities and resources. Regarding the turfing of the University’s football field, it was agreed that the joint working team would study the proposed alternatives for the field’s location to meet the technical requirements and standard criteria and the related legal rubrics for football fields. This MoU represents a full understanding between the two parties regarding the agreement and is valid for six months from the date of signing.
The MoU was signed on behalf of Sana’a University by Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abass, the University Rector, and by Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Mowallad, the Minister of Youth and Sports, on behalf of the Ministry.
During the signing ceremony, Minister Al-Mowallad emphasized the importance of completing the construction of the indoor gymnasium at Sana’a University, highlighting its role in promoting youth and sports activities at the University. He noted that the University’s large number of enrolled youths is part of the target for care and attention in the priorities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the program of the recently formed Government of Change and Development.
Prof. Al-Kasem Mohammed Abass praised the initiatives adopted by Al-Mowallad and expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Youth and Sports Welfare Fund (YSWF) to the University in the past few years to develop the infrastructure of sports facilities and football fields. He expressed his hope for a broad partnership with the Ministry related to the development of the curricula Physical education and sports medicine.
