Thursday, Jumad-Awal 6th 1446H, November 7th, 2024, the candidate researcher/Jamal Hezam Nagi Al-Nomair
Obtained the Master degree with an Excellent average of 93% in the major of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics and Pedodontics from the Faculty of Dentistry, Sanaa University,
For his Master’s thesis entitled:
Evaluation of Relative Position of Mandibular Foramen Among 4-12 Year-Old Yemeni Children
The examining committee consisted of:
- Assistant Professor Abdulkader Zabara, Principle Supervisor Committee Member,
- Associate Professor Amin Abdallah AL-AKWAA, Internal Examiner Head of Committee, and
- Assistant Professor Nadhem Mohammed SALLAM, External Examiner Committee Member.
The study aims at evaluating the position of mandibular foramen in relation to mandibular occlusal plane and anterior border of ramus among 4–12‑year‑old Yemeni children using digital panoramic radiographs.
The study comes out with some results: The mean distance of MF-AB of the ramus in right side is 16mm, while in the left side is 15mm with no statistically significant difference between both genders. The MF is found to be higher, based on OP, in male than in female at 4-6-year and 7-9-year age groups. While it is found to be higher, based on OP, in female than in male by those being 10–12 years old, the difference between the genders is no significant. There seen significant differences in the mean values of distances between the right and left sides of the mandible.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations at the end of this Master’s thesis, of which: Concerning anesthesia, for the inferior alveolar nerve block, the needle should be placed at the level of the occlusal plane in 4 to 9-year-old children and approximately, 2-3 mm above the occlusal plane for 10 to 12-year-old children.
Attendees of the session were a number of academics, researchers, students of the major, the researcher’s colleagues and some of family members.
