Hani Abdulmalik Ali ALEZZI
Obtained the Master degree in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with an Excellent average, from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Sanaa University, for her Master’s thesis entitled:
Effect of Acrylic Plate Uses Immediately After Surgical Palatal Cleft Repair
in a Sample of Yemeni Patients
The discussing committee consisted of:
♦ Professor Dr. Alqassem Mohammed ABBAS, Principle Supervisor Committee Member,

♦ Associate Professor Nashwan Hamid AL-TAIRY, External Examiner Committee Member.
This Master’s thesis aims at evaluating the effect of acrylic plate uses immediately after surgical palatal cleft repair at a sample of Yemeni cases.
The study comes out with some results: the use of acrylic sheet immediately after surgical repair of cleft palate gives a moderate potential role in preventing postoperative fistula formation, even reducing complications. It is successful at 50% for those cases from the study group who underwent surgery with acrylic plate in comparison to those operated with no acrylic plate.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations at the end of this study: The use of plate flap technique with an acrylic plate is more efficient with good care whilst and after surgical palatal cleft repair for about a two-week follow-up. It can also be successful with no acrylic plate. Parents should be aware too.
Attendees of the session were a number of academics, researchers, interested students of the major, as well as the researcher’s colleagues and some of family members.
