Sana’a University Wins Medals in the First Athletics Championship for Yemeni University Students
SANA’A, YEMEN – The First Athletics Championship for Yemeni University students, hosted at Al-Muraisi Stadium within Al-Thawra Sports City, concluded on a high note after three days of spirited competition. The event was jointly organized by the Higher Education Sector of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, attracting 150 participants from 20 universities and colleges who competed in events such as marathon race, javelin, shot put, and long jump.
In the 800-meter race, Ali Monassar from Dhamar University clinched the gold. At the same time, Fakhr Al-Deen Alwan from Sana’a University secured the silver, and Mohammed Fuad Nasser from Dhamar University took the bronze.
In the 400-meter race, Ali Al-Yemeni from Hikma University won the gold medal, with Mohammed Mansour from Dhamar University earning the silver while Fakhr Al-Deen Alwan from Sana’a University rounded out the podium with the bronze.
In the 200-meter race, Abdulrahman Al-Khawlani from Azal University claimed the gold medal, Naif Al-Dhaifi from Sana’a University took the silver, and Ali Al-Qadi from Sana’a Community College won the bronze. In the 100-meter dash, Abdulhakim Murshid from Azal University earned the gold, while Abdulhadi Al-Ahdal from Science and Technology University secured the silver, and Wisam Omar from Dhamar University took the bronze.
In the shot put competition, Ibrahim Jahlan from Al-Mahwit University won the gold medal, Ali Mansour from Dhamar University received the silver, and Abdul Aziz Al-Maswari from Sana’a University took the bronze.
In the long jump event, Ali Al-Yemeni from Hikma University secured the gold medal, Abdullah Al-Ahdal from Sana’a University won the silver, and Hamza Surur from the same university took home the bronze.
The 4×100 meter relay concluded with Dhamar University capturing gold, Hikma University taking silver, and Azal University earning bronze.
In the overall standings, Dhamar University won the most gold medals and claimed first place, followed by Hikma University in second place and Azal University in third.
Dr. Ghaleb Al-Qanis, Deputy Minister of Education for Educational Affairs, praised the wide range of student participation and the successful execution of the championship. He emphasized the event’s significant role in fostering both the intellectual and physical growth of university and community college students and promoting sportsmanship across the academic community.
