Public MA Viva-Voce Examination of Mr. Ali Abdullah Mohsen Al-Nizari, from the Department of History and International Relations, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University
Mr. Ali Abdullah Mohsen Al-Nizari, has successfully awarded his MA degree with distinction, achieving an impressive score of 95%. from the Department of History and International Relations at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, majoring in “Islamic History,” in a thesis titled “Charitable Contributions in Islamic State: Areas of Expenditure and Their Effects (41-132 Hijri/661-749 AD).”
The Viva-Voce took place on Monday, 1 Jumada II 1446 Hijri, corresponding to February 12, 2024.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Abdulrahman Ahmed Al-Mukhtar, External Examiner, Amran University, Chair
2. Dr. Faisal Bajash Ali Hamid, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Dr. Mustafa Hussein Ali Ghashim, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Member.
The primary objectives of the thesis were to:
1. Define charitable contributions and explore their historical contexts.
2. Clarify the concept of charitable contributions within the Islamic state.
3. Investigate the various areas and types of expenditure associated with charitable contributions.
4. Analyze the impacts of charitable contributions on political, social, scientific, and literary dimensions during the specified historical period.
5. Examine the motivations and reasons behind the implementation of this policy.
The study yielded several significant findings, notably that charitable contributions played a crucial role in shaping political, military, social, scientific, and literary spheres, producing a range of diverse and positive effects.
The study presents several key recommendations, including:
1. Emphasizing the positive attributes of charitable contributions identified by the researcher in the findings while actively mitigating their negative consequences.
2. Undertaking an independent historical research investigation that examines the influence of charitable contributions on the scientific domain, highlighting their significance.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
