On January 11, 2025 (11 Rajab 1446 AH), Zubaida Moqbel Al-Zubaidi successfully defended her PhD thesis in the Department of International Development at the Inclusive Development Research Center, University of Sana’a. The thesis, titled “The Political Participation of Yemeni Women and Its Relation to Peacebuilding in Yemen (1990-2022),” was evaluated by a committee comprising:

The thesis aimed to explore the political participation of Yemeni women and its relationship to peacebuilding by highlighting the extent of their involvement in the political system and the peacebuilding framework. The study yielded several significant findings, including an examination of the evolution of women’s political participation throughout Yemen’s history and a descriptive-analytical analysis of their current situation and the barriers they encounter.
The study recommended enhancing women’s presence in the political arena and adopting supportive policies to empower them, including the implementation of a quota system to ensure fair representation in political bodies and to strengthen their role in achieving sustainable peace and development.
The defense was attended by a diverse audience, including academics, researchers, students, and interested parties, along with colleagues and family members of the researcher.
