Sana’a University, in collaboration with the Land Transport Regulating Authority (LTRA) and CAC Bank, has launched a trial phase for electronic payment in student transportation within the university campus.
The University Rector, Prof. Al-Kasem Abbas, Chairman of LTRA Dr. Ibrahim Al-Moay’ad, Manager of the Cooperative and Agricultural Credit Bank (CAC Bank) – Al-Zubairi Branch, Abdulrahman Al-Matari, and Head of the Retail Sector at CAC Bank, Ibrahim Al-Dailami, assessed the efficiency of this free service, which imposes no additional charges on drivers or students, apart from the fixed fare of 50 riyals.
Representatives from CAC Bank’s university branch provided an overview of the service, demonstrating how students can make payments to bus drivers electronically through the Mobile Money application by scanning a QR code displayed on the buses.
They highlighted that this initiative marks the first phase of a broader effort to expand electronic payment in the transportation sector. The LTRA plans to extend this system across additional transport hubs and public transportation networks in the Capital Secretariat and other governorates.
The University Rector, Prof. Al-Kasem Abbas, commended this initiative, emphasizing its role in enhancing collaboration between CAC Bank and the LTRA to offer students a more convenient, cost-effective means of transportation between faculties.
