Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Ms. Tahani Qassim Ahmed Mohammed Al-Mansoori, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities

Ms. Tahani Qassim Ahmed Mohammed Al-Mansoori has awarded the PhD Degree majoring in Creed, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University. Her dissertation, entitled “Belief in the Invisible World and its Impact on the Individual and Society in Surat Al-Baqarah: An Analytical Study,” was successfully defended on Thursday, Sha’aban 29, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to February 27, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Moti’a Mohammed Shabalah, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Chair.
2. Prof. Ahmed Ali Yaqoub, External Examiner, Hajjah University, Member.
3. Prof. Adel Ali Saleh Al-Faqih, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
The primary objective of the dissertation was to elucidate the concept of belief in the unseen as presented in Surah Al-Baqarah and its impact on individuals and society. The study also aimed to contribute to nation-building by addressing issues related to the affirmation of belief in the unseen and its resulting effects on individuals and society.
Key findings of the dissertation included:
1. The insufficiency of all sources of knowledge, except for divine revelation, in fulfilling human needs for understanding the truths of existence and the invisible world.
2. The nature of angels as luminous beings created with inherent obedience, whose true nature is known only to Allah.
3. The recognition of jinn as unseen beings distinct from humans and angels.
4. The believer derives strength from their faith in divine destiny, knowing that what befalls them could not have been avoided.
The researcher made the following recommendations:
1. Activating the role of scholars and preachers in building a Muslim society based on sound doctrinal principles.
2. Warning against the prevalence of materialism among people as a result of weak belief in the invisible world.
3. Conducting a dedicated study on Ayat Al-Kursi, given its profound meanings.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
