Public PhD Viva-Voice Examination of Ms. Muna Mohammed Mohammed Ghuthaim

The Public Viva-Voice Examination for the PhD Dissertation hereto entitled: ” Developing the Biology Curriculum According to the STEM Approach and Its Effectiveness on the Development of Creative Thinking and Flow Among Female Secondary School Students in Yemen Republic”, submitted by Ms. Muna Mohammed Mohammed Ghuthaim Department of Science (Curricula and Methods of Teaching Science), Faculty of Education –Sana’a, was held on Thursday, 21/08/1446 Hijri corresponding to 20/02/2025. The Viva-Voice Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:

The study aimed at:-
- Identifying the standards of the STEM approach that should be available in the content of the biology curriculum for grades (10-12).
- And the extent to which the STEM approach standards are available in the content of the biology curriculum for grades (10-12).
- Developing a study unit in the biology course according to the (STEM) approach as a model.
- And knowing the effectiveness of teaching according to the developed textbook according to (STEM) in developing creative thinking and psychological flow.
The study concluded that the total percentage of availability of STEM approach standards in the content of biology textbooks for secondary school grades (10-12) reached (33.33%). – There were statistically significant differences between the averages of the pre- and post-application in favor of the post-application in the creative thinking test and the flow scale.
Many recommendations were suggested as: developing biology textbooks and science textbooks in general according to the STEM approach in a way that shows the relationship of biology to other sciences (integration of sciences). Integrating flow dimensions and creative thinking skills into textbooks content; especially biology textbooks to stimulate motivation for learning that leads to creativity. Utilizing the developed unit in this study by the curricula developers. Taking advantage of the flow meter prepared in this study.
A number of academics, the department head, some researchers, students, interested people, and a number of the candidates’ colleagues and family members attended the viva.
