Ms.Huda Abdulkhaliq Yahya Hajar has successfully awarded the MA Degree majoring in Quranic Interpretation and Sciences with an outstanding score of 95% and received high honors, along with a recommendation for the publication and dissemination of her thesis across universities, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University. Her thesis titled “Aqood Al-Aqiyan fi Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran by Imam Al-Mahdi Deenallah Mohammed Bin Al-Mutahhar Bin Yahya Bin Al-Hadi (Died 728 Hijri) from Surah Al-Ma’idah to Surah An-Nas: A Study and Verification,” was defended on Thursday, Sha’ban 27, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to February 26, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
1. Prof. Ali Mohammed al-Ashmouri, External Examiner, Amran University, Chair.
2. Prof.Huda Ali Al-Imad, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
3. Dr. Halima Abdullah Jahaf, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Member.
The primary objective of the thesis was to identify ”Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran” from the beginning of Surat Al-Ma’idah to Surat Al-Nas, as well as to elucidate the definitive and abrogated verses contained therein.
In her research, the scholar attained several significant findings, among which are:
1. The work titled “Aqood Al-Aqiyan fi Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran” serves as a vital reference in Quranic interpretation. It encompasses transmitted texts derived from Arabic linguistic principles while also acknowledging the role of reason in interpretation, ensuring that it does not conflict with explicit texts.
2. The book is rich in scientific content, encompassing various topics related to Quranic sciences, readings of the Qur’an, language studies, prophetic hadiths, jurisprudential discussions, and references to Arabic poetry, among other fields. This breadth of material has garnered commendation from numerous scholars.
3. “Aqood Al-Aqiyan fi Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran” compiles diverse opinions and interpretations from scholars regarding abrogation without excessive elaboration or brevity. The author has systematically gathered the views of prior interpreters on abrogation and provided responses attributed to Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), addressing critiques regarding perceived excessive abrogation within the Qur’an.
4. The author’s style is characterized by clarity and precision in expression, employing brevity and succinctness while occasionally utilizing symbols and abbreviations. Illustrative examples are provided throughout the research to demonstrate this approach.
5. The author refrained from extensive discussion of jurisprudential differences and rational issues, opting instead for brief mentions to maintain focus on his primary objective: to present the Quranic verses pertaining to abrogation and analyze them according to the criteria established at the outset of the manuscript.
The researcher has also put forth several recommendations, the most notable of which include:
1. A call for the publication and dissemination of “Aqood Al-Aqiyan fi Al-Naskh wa Al-Mansukh Min Quran” due to its substantial scholarly value.
2. The establishment of public libraries with dedicated sections for female students, housing a comprehensive collection of printed works—both historical and contemporary—across various disciplines.
3. An appeal to researchers to engage in the discovery and analysis of valuable manuscripts that remain archived in manuscript repositories, facilitating broader access to their abundant knowledge and scientific insights.
4. An acknowledgment of investigation as a profound discipline that requires specialized skills; thus, only those equipped with investigative capabilities should engage in this field to fulfill its primary aim: to critically evaluate texts and present them in accordance with the author’s intended meaning.
5. Recommendation and Proposal for the Department of Islamic Studies, it is proposed that the Department of Islamic Studies formally approve the inclusion of investigative studies as a designated subject within the curriculum for the preparatory year. This subject should be distinct from research methodology and should incorporate a practical component that enables students to engage in investigative work as part of their graduation requirements. The objective of this initiative is to equip students with a solid foundation in this field, thereby fostering their confidence and competence in conducting investigations upon graduation.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
