Obtained the Master degree in the major of Medical Microbiology from the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Sanaa University,
For his Master thesis entitled:
Prevalence of Human Cytomegalovirus among Patients with Solid Cancer in National Oncology Center Sana’a City.
The examining committee consisted of:
♦ Professor Dr. Saleh Salem BA-HAJ, Internal Examiner (Sanaa University) Head of Committee,
♦ Associate Professor Dr. Huda AL-SHAMY, Principle Supervisor (Sanaa University) Committee Member and
♦ Associate Professor Dr. Abdul-Rahman AL-HAIFI, External Examiner (Dhamar University) Committee Member.
The thesis aims at determining the prevalence of human cytomegalovirus among patients with solid cancer in national oncology center Sana’a city.
The study comes out with some results, of which: The overall prevalence of Human Cytomegalovirus in solid cancer patients represents 96.9% for IgG-Human cytomegalovirus antibody. In addition to, the group age 31-40 years old is the highest prevalence.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations, at the end of this Master thesis: Human cytomegalovirus test should be done as a routine test for all cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Moreover, blood bags to be given to cancer cases should be tested for Human Cytomegalovirus before giving. Hygienic condition education and awareness should be published amongst medical groups and community people.
