Public MA Viva-Voice Examination of Ms.Hamza Abdul Naser Yahya Alnasan

Today, Sunday Rajab 13th 1446H, January 12th, 2025, the candidate researcher/
Mr. Hamza Abdul Naser Yahya Alnasan
Obtained the Master degree with an Excellent average (92%) in the major of Clinical Orthodontics from the Department of Orthodontics, Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry and Oral Surgery, Sanaa University,
For his Master’s thesis entitled:
Biomechanical Analysis of Orthodontic Correction of Maxillary Buccally Ectopic Canine: A Finite Element Analysis
The examining committee consisted of:
- Professor Dr. Abdulkader Zabara, Principle Supervisor
Committee Member,
- Associate Professor Dr. Naela AL-MOGAHED, Internal Examiner
Head of Committee, and
- Associate Professor Dr. Khaled AL-DHORAEE, External Examiner
Committee Member.
The study aims at analyzing and assessing the biomechanical effects of canine extrusion on tooth displacement, rotation, and occlusal balance in MBEC correction using the method FEA.
The study comes out with some results as follows: Extrusion of the canine occurs with and effects other teeth in the maxilla by movement and rotation. In bilateral cases, when the canines are extrusion balanced, balance occurs in the occlusal line, while in unilateral cases, canting occurs on the MBEC side. The results also showed no relationship between tooth displacement and gender.
The researcher presents a number of recommendations at the end of this Master’s thesis, of which:
The researcher introduced designs using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of Yemeni patients using Mimics and 3-matic software, 3D models of the maxilla, periodontal ligament (PDL), and orthodontic devices that were generated and meshed displacement and rotation of teeth that were simulated and analyzed using Ansys software under a 0.59 N Extrusion force applied to the canine.
Attendees of the viva session were a number of academics, researchers, students of the major, the researcher’s colleagues and some of family members.
