Master’s Degree for Researcher Ilham Al-Shahedhi

Researcher Ilham Mohammed Yahya Al-Shahethi was awarded a Master’s degree with an overall excellent grade and a score of 93% from the Department of Arabic Studies, at the Faculty of Education, Sana’a University.
Her thesis, titled “The Weaknesses of Abi Al-Barakat Al-Anbari in His Book “Al-Bayan fi Gharib I’rab Al-Qur’an: A Grammatical and Morphological Study” was defended on Thursday, Ramadan 13, 1446 AH, corresponding to March 13, 2025 AD.
The examination and judgment committee consisted of:
- Associate Professor Dr. Hadi bin Abdullah bin Naji Shamasan, Main Supervisor and Committee Member.

Assistant Professor Amat Al-Khaliq Mohammed Ali Al-Marsad, Internal Examiner and Committee Member.

Professor Dr. Ali Qaed Abdo Sinan, External Examiner and Committee Chairperson.
The thesis aimed to study the grammatical and morphological issues weakened by Al-Anbari in his book Al-Bayan, and then discuss those issues in light of the views of grammarians and books of evidence for the different articulations of Quranic words & verses. The study also dicussed the reasons why Al-Anbari and other grammarians has weakened them.
The thesis came out with several results, some of which were:
* Al-Bayan book is an important reference in the interpretation of the strange grammar of the Qur’an.
* Al-Anbari’s weaknesses in his book Al-Bayan were often controversial issues between the Basrians and the Kufans.
* Al-Anbari had multiple stands about the readings (versions of articulations).
The researcher suggested several recommendations in her thesis, including: conducting comparative studies on the weaknesses of Al-Anbari and the weaknesses of other grammarians.
The discussion was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, interested individuals, and colleagues and family members of the researcher.
