Public PhD Viva-Voce Examination of Ms. Rahma Abdulwahhab Ali Saeed

Ms. Rahma Abdulwahhab Ali Saeed has been awarded a PhD Degree majoring in Hadith, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts & Humanities – Sana’a University.
Her PhD dissertation, entitled “The Garden of Prophetic Wisdom in Explaining the Arba’een Al-Silqiyya” by Imam Al-Mansur Billah Abdullah Ibn Hamza (Died 614 Hijri): A Study and Verification”, was successfully defended on Monday, Ramadan 17, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to January 17, 2025.
The Viva-Voce Committee, which was formed based on a resolution issued by the Post-Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Council, consisted of the following:
- Prof. Adel Saleh Al-Faqih, Internal Examiner, Sana’a University, Chairperson.
- Prof. Bushra Ali Yahya Al-Emad, Main Supervisor, Sana’a University, Member.
- Prof. Saeed Mohammed Al-Haddad, External Examiner, Taiz University, Member.
The primary objectives of the dissertation were as follows:
1. To provide an introduction to the author and commentator.
2. To underscore the scientific significance of the manuscript.
3. To verify the manuscript in accordance with the established rules of textual verification.
4. To highlight the author’s scholarly efforts in clarifying and elucidating the contents of the manuscript.
The dissertation come out to several significant conclusions, including:
1. The manuscript’s remarkable scientific value, particularly in relation to its contributions to Islamic jurisprudence and related sciences.
2. The author’s diligent efforts in explaining rare or complex terms and clarifying their meanings.
3. The manuscript’s frequent use of Quranic verses, Hadiths, and poetic references to further elucidate key concepts.
4. The inclusion of substantial knowledge in both religious and linguistic domains.
The researcher offered several key recommendations:
1. The need to encourage greater scholarly attention to manuscripts and to urge researchers to engage in rigorous scientific verification and study.
2. The importance of emphasizing a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the manuscript, considering all its dimensions.
3. To prioritize reliance on the original manuscript during verification, while utilizing other copies for comparative analysis.
The Viva-Voce was attended by several academics, researchers, students, and several colleagues and family members of the researcher.
