Joint Meeting Between YCIT-HE and Sana’a University to Discuss the Automation of Graduate Studies

Sana’a – Saturday, April 26, 2025 | 28 Shawwal 1446 AH
A joint meeting was held today at the University Presidency in Sana’a, chaired by Prof. Mohammed Ahmed Al-Bukhaiti, the University Rector, bringing together the Yemen Center for Information Technology in Higher Education (YCIT-HE) and officials of the Higher Studies and Information Systems departments at Sana’a University.
During the meeting, the University Rector emphasized that Sana’a University and the YCIT-HE are true partners in the significant progress achieved in the field of automation. What was once seen as an obstacle has, thanks to the collective efforts, become a tool for development and modernization.
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti explained that the automation of undergraduate programs, initiated in 2019, has been successfully completed. Building on that experience, the university has now begun steps to automate its graduate studies programs through the input of data—a process expected to be smoother than the undergraduate phase despite the complexity and diversity of graduate programs. He attributed this improvement to the experience gained by the technical team responsible for the project.
The recently appointed Rector also confirmed that the university administration would provide the necessary support to complete the automation of graduate studies shortly, aiming to fully implement the new electronic system by the start of the 2025–2026 academic year (1447 AH).
Prof. Al-Bukhaiti urged the working teams to operate with a spirit of collaboration, mutual respect, and appreciation for everyone’s contributions, calling for weekly meetings to ensure the project’s completion.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohammed Shukri, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs; Prof. Huda Al-Imad, Assistant Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies; and Mr. Adel Al-Hababi, the Rector’s Assistant for Media Affairs.
Dr. Fuad Abdulrazzaq, Director General of YCIT-HE, highlighted the center’s role in promoting automation across Yemeni universities, both public and private. He noted that although YCIT-HE has existed since 2007, the substantial strides made since 2019 have been very significant, leading to the widespread adoption of student information systems and related developments in financial and graduate studies systems. Dr. Abdulrazzaq also stressed the need for continuous upgrades to IT infrastructure and software to ensure high-quality services.
Meanwhile, Prof. Huda Al-Imad, Assistant Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies, confirmed that all current graduate applications are being processed through the electronic system, achieving nearly 100% digitization.
The meeting also included a focused discussion among IT managers from both the university and the YCIT-HE to establish clear mechanisms for finalizing the automation project, implementing the “SAR” system, and ensuring a smooth transition to the fully automated system within the next two months.
The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mosa Ghorab, Deputy Executive Director of the YCIT-HE; Eng. Mohammed Shamsuddin, Director General of Information Systems at Sana’a University, and other information systems managers and IT specialists from both the University and the YCIT-HE.
