Master’s Degree Awarded to Mr. Osama Abdullah Hammoud in Orthodontics

Mr. Osama Abdullah Mohammed Hammoud was awarded a Master degree with an overall average of (Excellent) in the major of Orthodontics, from Department of Orthodontics, Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Sana’a University. This achievement is based on his thesis titled: “(Evaluation of Crown-Root Angle and Axial Angle of Upper Anterior Teeth in Skeletal Malocclusion among a Sample of Yemeni Individuals Using Cone-Beam Computed Tomography).” The defense was held on Sha’ban 28, 1446 Hijri, corresponding to February 27, 2025.
The MA viva-voce committee comprised the following members:
– Assoc. Prof. Fouad Al-Mutarreb (Main Supervisor),
– Dr. Rami Ishaq (Internal Examiner), and
– Assoc. Prof. Khaled Al-Dhorai (External Examiner and Chairperson).
The thesis aimed to determine the crown-root angle and axial angle, and to identify differences across various malocclusion classifications, skeletal patterns, and gender.
This thesis yielded several findings, including: crown-root angle and axial angle values in the upper anterior teeth were relatively higher in males compared to females, and the left side showed relatively higher values compared to the right side.
This thesis concluded with several recommendations, most notably: expanding the study to include a larger and more diverse sample of Yemeni adults to enhance the generalizability of the findings; and conducting longitudinal studies to evaluate the impact of crown-root angle and axial angle on root resorption during orthodontic treatment.
The defense was attended by a number of academics, researchers, students, interested individuals, as well as the candidate’s colleagues and family members.
